Dear producers:
We are happy to announce we have just signed on with Doctors for Patient Care (aka Docs4patientCare.org) the fastest growing group of activist physicians in the country. These concerned physicians are committed to the establishment of a health care system that preserves the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship, promotes quality of care, supports affordable access to all Americans, and protects patients' freedom of choice. They started up a few months ago, already have over 500 members and are planning a Doctors’ March on Washington, DC on 9/10.
What Does Docs4PatientCare.org Support?
- Cautious, responsible and well-conceived reforms which work for everyone. There is no need to rush this legislation through. We only have one chance to get this right.
- Bring all stakeholders together to assure meaningful, sustainable "reform" we can be proud of.
- Use the power of government to assist the uninsured obtain health coverage through modification of the tax code, such as tax credits and vouchers.
- Control high insurance premiums by opening up patient risk pools across the entire country, thereby, diffusing risks.
- Allow individuals, families and small businesses to purchase insurance across state lines and shop on the open market. Competition would drive prices down. Public can purchase policies directly from companies, therefore, uncoupling it from employment.
- Allow the individual/family to be the "owner" of the policy making their health care coverage portable and available if they lose their job or move to a new place of employment. This will eliminate exclusion from the new employer's plan for a “pre-existing” health issue and also eliminate a waiting period to qualify for enrollment.
- Encourage and expand Health Savings Accounts. Tax-Free savings vehicle for planned and/or unexpected medical expenses.
- Insurance Reform
- Tort Reform. Reduce frivolous malpractice claims which drive up health costs secondary to defensive medicine.
There are many physicians available to comment on health care reform around the country. Please let me know if you are interested and I’ll confirm a guest for you right away.
Best,
Audrey Mullen
